The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) programme is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an Operator. IOSA is based on industry proven quality audit principles and is designed to ensure that each audit is conducted in a standardized manner to achieve consistent results. The objective of an audit under IOSA is to establish conformity to the IOSA standards and the subsequent registration of the auditee with IATA as an IOSA Operator.
Audits under IOSA can only be conducted by audit organizations (AOs) that have been accredited by IATA. The AOs responsible for conducting audits using the IOSA standards and recommended practices must maintain an internal quality control system to ensure these standards are complied with and maintained.
AOs can only conduct audits using qualified auditors that have attended the IOSA Auditors Training Course and met all the prerequisites of audit experience for the particular disciplines which they are qualified and are currently approved to carry out.
